THE RING: Trevon surprised me with getting my ring from a very special place. My dad's cousin Skip owns a jewelry store--Van Horn Jewelers in Upstate New York. My dad purchased my mom's engagement ring there, my uncle purchased my aunt's, my brother purchased his wife's, and my cousin purchased his wife's! So even though it was a brand new ring, it feels like a family heirloom! Which makes this ring beyond special to me! I was just over the moon to see that label on the ring box. I feel like I have a little bit of my whole family in this ring!

THE SHIRT: I’ve always been such a sentimental girl. I’ve saved hundreds of little mementos of things over the years because my heart finds meaning and peace in remembering a moment from a physical reminder. So when Trevon was intentional enough to purposively wear the shirt he wore to our first date to propose to me, I’ve never felt more seen or loved. He knew something like that would matter to me, so it mattered to him. And that meant the world.

THE DATE: We’re getting married on September 6th—my parents’ wedding anniversary! This year, they’re celebrating 39 years of love, laughter, and probably a few disagreements over what’s for dinner. Their marriage has been such a beautiful example of loyalty and partnership, and choosing this date felt like the perfect way to honor the solid foundation they’ve built. We’re hoping a little of their magic rubs off on us as we start our forever on the same day they did (in a similar way—with a short engagement after being long distance!)
